Shipping is in the middle of a green shift now, The UN maritime regulatory body, IMO, has set new international emission requirements for sulfur. Up to 70,000 ships must meet the new requirements of a maximum of 0.1 per cent Sox emissions within ECA areas and 0.5 per cent globally. Blom Maritime offers services that enable the shipping owners to install systems to clean the heavy oil in a simple and cost-effective way, thus helping to reduce greenhouse gases and Sox emissions globally. BWTS are now being installed to prevent invasive species from one geographical habitat to another. Shipowners have ships on all seven seas, and thus we are part of the global struggle to prepare for the UN's ambitious plans for a 50 percent reduction of emissions by 2050, says BLOM Maritime CEO Marius Blom.
